Safe Passage, a program geared to help opiate addicts find help that has been instituted in all Livingston County law enforcement departments, was recently recognized as the Comcast Spotlight Community Program of the Year.
Pontiac Police Chief Jim Woolford explained that Billi Jean Gurnsey from Comcast Spotlight approached him and about the program and what has happened since.
“She was interested in the Safe Passage program and said each year, Comcast chose a charity or a community outreach program as their charity of the year. Awhile later, she contacted me and let me know she chose Safe Passage, which entitled us to about 100 commercials to be on Comcast and Mediacom. So they came up and filmed the commercial. It’s a great opportunity for Livingston County Safe Passage to get the word out and for people to see exactly what’s going on and how we’re going about trying to help,” Woolford said.
Keep an eye out on Comcast or Mediacom cable or visit the Pontiac Police Facebook page to see the commercial.
