A memorial for FranCisco Vargas, longtime Walldog artist, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at theWalldog Mural and Sign Painting Exhibit at the Pontiac Museum Complex at 110 W. Howard Street.
Pontiac Tourism Director Ellie Alexander describes the person Vargas was.
“FranCisco Vargas was an artist who created the beautiful stamp mural over by the river and did most of that by himself in 2009 during the Walldog meet. Sadly, he passed away last year. Really, he was recognized throughout the whole Walldog community for being a wonderful person and fantastic artist,” Alexander said.
Vargas was a leader in the art community in Fresno, California and was named artist of the year at the Hispanic Heritage Awards Ceremony in September 2014.
