As much as five inches of rain fell on Odell during a mid-afternoon deluge Sunday, with residents scrambling to save what they could – inside and out.

Odell Mayor Terry Joyner said, while it was devastating to many, his village came together and helped each other get through it.

“There were people that came out of nowhere. There were previous board members that just pitched in. I had the previous mayor, Tony Noonan, just put on his rubber boots and pitched in. He didn’t even hesitate. The community really sticks together whenever times get rough like that,” Joyner said.

The podcast of the Community Forum with Joyner will be available at WJEZ.com later today.
