Two teenagers died as a result of a two-car accident east of Pontiac Sunday evening.

According to Livingston County Coroner Danny Watson, seventeen-year-old Jose Carlos Baeza-Padilla of Meadows, died at the scene of the accident Sunday night. Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll confirmed his passenger, fifteen-year-old Lynse Stokes, was airlifted to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, where she passed away from her injuries late Monday morning.

According to District 6 State Police, the accident happened at the corner of Route 116 and 1900 East Road, when Baeza-Padilla was traveling north on and turned west onto Route 116, when the vehicle traveling eastbound on 116, driven by 25-year-old Leah Metz, collided with his vehicle. The accident report said Metz was unable to avoid striking his vehicle.
