A handful of car burglaries have been reported in Fairbury and Police Chief Mark Travis has tips for residents to help keep their belongings from being stolen.

“Number one is to lock your vehicle doors when you’re not driving your vehicle. Also, another key thing you can do is keep any valuables out of sight, whether it be a phone charger or electronic devices – keep it out of sight, so if someone walks by your residence and they peek inside your vehicle window, they won’t see anything of value and they’ll keep moving,” Travis said.

Travis reiterated that the important thing is keeping doors locked, as all these were not committed through forced entry. If you feel you’ve been a victim of a car burglary, he says to call the Fairbury Police at 692-3347.
