Pontiac will be welcoming the annual GTO Association of America’s regional cruise and show this weekend, along with the celebrations of two milestones.
Pontiac Tourism Director Ellie Alexander said, along with the car show Sunday on the square, the anniversaries of the Pontiac and the creation of Route 66.
“We’re celebrating both Pontiac and Route 66. They were both started in 1926, so it’s their 90th anniversary. So to commemorate that, we’re doing a photo op down at Dongbai’s mural, which is on the side of Edinger’s Restaurant building. And we’re going to stage the 1926 Pontiac Coupe there and a historic Route 66 sign, so you can come down and get your picture taken, and we’re also giving out free birthday cake while supplies last,” Alexander said.
