The girls softball field at Prairie Central has never had a press box – until this year.

Varsity Softball Coach Tim McGuire said they started raising the money for the building, with the goal of $10,000. McGuire said the $8,ooo has been raised through private donations and the work on building has begun.

“It’s going to be about ten by sixteen and it’s going to be two stories. Half of the bottom is going to be a concession stand and the other half is going to be storage. We’ll have room for score keepers and announcers at the top. To go a step further, our Ag Department at the high school are working on reroofing our dugouts. We’re just trying to make it someplace where the girls are really proud to play and represents Prairie Central in a very positive way,” McGuire said.

If you’re interested in donating, checks can be sent to McGuire at 14 Timber Ridge Drive, Fairbury, and checks should be made out to ‘Prairie Central Softball.’
