October 22 is National Prescription Drug Take Back day, which is a chance for people to securely drop off any unused or expired medications without flushing them down drains, down the toilet or throwing them in the garbage.
This program started in Pontiac and PTHS environmental science teacher Paul Ritter said that every day is drug take back day in Pontiac, but this is a chance for all communities to make the right decision about prescription drug disposal.
“What’s interesting is, obviously we’ve been around with this program for quite some time. P2D2 has been able to help with the proper destruction of unwanted or unused medication to the tune of over 3.5 million pounds,” Ritter said.
