International phone cards and non-perishable food items are now being collected to be sent to our troops in time for the Holidays.
The Support Our Troops Care Packages is a collaboration amongst the Livingston County and Will County farm bureaus, as well as the Bank of Pontiac and the Pontiac and Fairbury chambers of commerce.
Jody Hughes, manager at the Livingston County Farm Bureau, has more.
“So, this time of year, we see a lot of people wanting to give back. So, we want to do our part and give back to our troops. We work with Operation Care Package. It’s a not for profit organization and they collect the items and send them. Their main goal is to hit the troops that maybe don’t have family a back home or don’t have anyone sending them packages, so we don’t want anyone being forgotten,” Hughes said.
