A Pontiac man raised more than $12,000 in the past year for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Oscar Gorbet has made fundraising for the MDA his mission for several years now, and not only was he able to present a check to the organization last Thursday, Andie Savoree, fundraising coordinator for the MDA, had a big announcement to make.

“Oscar had a best year ever of $12,626. So we are actually putting a plaque on a cabin this summer, because he’s technically paid for an entire cabin of campers, counselors, their supplies, their food, everything they’ll need for an entire week. I just want to thank the community for rallying around Oscar year after year, because this year and every year, he just seems to do more and more and it wouldn’t be possible without everyone who helps him out,” Savoree said.

Gorbet will be a guest on the community forum tomorrow morning at 6:45 to explain why he dedicates all his time to fundraising for the MDA.
