Traditionally, today marks the beginning of the busy holiday travel period and now through Sunday, Illinois State Police advises drivers should expect high traffic volumes on interstates and roads throughout the region.
In a press release, District 6 commander, Captain Steve Riesenberg, said police will be increasing patrols to watch for motorists who may be driving in an unsafe manner, especially drivers committing the Fatal Four moving violations.
Those include speeding, driving under the influence, not wearing seatbelts and distracted driving. ISP’s number one goal over this holiday weekend is to make traveling safer and reduce the number of fatalities on Illinois roadways.
