Illinois State men’s basketball jumped out to a quick lead and never trailed as they defeated the visiting IUPUI Jaguars 77-63. Paris Lee led the Redbirds with 18 points, six assists and six rebounds. The Redbirds host New Mexico on Saturday night.
Illinois Wesleyan women’s basketball rolled over Rose-Hulman 66-38. Illinois women’s hoops lost to Wake Forest 79-70.
The Bulls lost to the Lakers 96-90.
Illinois Wesleyan’s Skyler Tomko and Ellie Crabtree earned first team All-Central Region honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Titans Katie Denney and Alison Seger were named to the third team.
The Cardinals have named Chris Swauger as field manager of the Peoria Chiefs for the 2017 season. Swauger replaces Joe Kruzel, who takes over State College in the short-season New York-Penn League after three seasons leading the Chiefs. Swauger led Johnson City to the Appalachian League title this year.
Tonight on the ice, the Blackhawks host the New Jersey Devils while the Tampa Bay Lightning visit St. Louis.
Illinois State women’s basketball continues its homestand tonight against Eastern Illinois.
