In high school basketball – Dwight held off Gardner 54-52, Ridgeview topped Cornerstone Christian 56-43 at Eureka College’s Reagan Center. Central Catholic held off Eureka 45-36 for the Saints’ 5th straight win. Roanoke-Benson lost to Quest Academy.

Illinois Wesleyan cooled off one of the top shooting teams in Division III in a 72-54 win over Chicago.

Illinois State has a new soccer coach. Brad Silvey, an assistant coach the last two seasons, has been named to replace Eric Golz who took the head coaching job at Dayton.

The Chicago Blackhawks lost to Ottawa 4-3. Marian Hossa left the game in the first period with an upper body injury. His status is unclear.

Western Kentucky won the Boca Raton Bowl, 51-31, over Memphis.

The Chicago Bears had no players voted for the NFL pro bowl for the second straight season. The Oakland Raiders have a league-high seven players.
