Spending a snow day with the shelter animals

With the county being plagued with frigid temperatures throughout the weekend into this week, paired with icy roads, the Livingston County Humane Society remained closed to visitors.

That didn’t mean the animals were alone. Co-founder Karen Gregory said volunteers stayed there and did things they couldn’t normally do.

“We got to spend quality time with our animals, because usually, we’re just cleaning and trying to get everything organized and doing paper work. We got to take them out to the arena. We were walking them all over the building, because naturally, they could not be outside. A couple of the younger staff were in the cat room keeping them entertained and playing with them. So, we stayed put,” Gregory said.

Gregory was a guest on a recent Community Forum where she also talked about the Pet of the Week. That podcast can be found at wjez.com.
