The holidays are a time of gift giving, but one thing people do without realizing it puts them in danger of having those gifts stolen is carelessly disposing of the packaging.
Pontiac Police Major Dan Davis gives tips on concealing those boxes during the holiday season, potentially saving you from having things stolen.
“We do recommend with all the new toys and appliances, you take your boxes and packaging and recycle them or at least somehow conceal them. Don’t advertise them to burglars or anyone who may be tempted when they see you have a new TV or high-dollar Christmas present to go and steal it when you’re not looking. This is a trend that unfortunately every city across the United States sees every year, but we do ask the citizens to remain vigilant, take the extra step to protect yourselves and also, keep an eye out for your neighbors,” Davis said.
