Illinois scored the first 10 points on the way to a 76-64 win over Iowa at State Farm Center. Michael Finke came off the bench to lead the Illini with 17 points. Maverick Morgan added 12 points and seven rebounds. The Illini visit Penn State Saturday afternoon.
Illinois State men’s basketball fell behind early but rallied for a 71-66 win over Indiana State. The Redbirds are 9-0 in the Missouri Valley Conference for the first time since 1982-83. The win was the 10th straight and 17th consecutive home victory. Illinois State returns to action Sunday afternoon at Evansville.
Illinois Wesleyan men fell at Number 23 North Park 96-86 despite four Titans in double-figure scoring, led by 19 points from Brady Rose. The Titans are off until next Wednesday when they visit Millikin.
Illinois Wesleyan women turned back Augustana 83-74 behind a career-high 24 points from Maddie Merritt and 23 points from Molly McGraw.
In the other Missouri Valley Conference men’s games, Loyola handed Bradley its fourth straight loss, 70-50, while Northern Iowa turned back Evansville 61-54. In the Big Ten, Ohio State edged Minnesota 78-72.
The Bulls dropped a 119-114 decision to the visiting Atlanta Hawks.
On the ice tonight, the Blackhawks host the Winnipeg Jets and the Blues are in Minnesota.
