An officer was attacked by an inmate Sunday around noon at Pontiac Correctional Center.

According to AFSCME Local 494 President William Lee, the officer was stabbed in the head with a sharpened object. The inmate was subdued and the officer was taken to OSF Saint James – John W. Albrecht Medical Center, where they were treated and released. The incident remains under investigation and the prison was put on lockdown.
