In girls high school softball, Pontiac won twice at Olympia, finishing a suspended game from last week with an 8-5 victory in 18 innings followed by a 4-3 triumph in the nightcap. Normal Community defeated Danville 10-4.
In prep baseball, Mahomet-Seymour beat Prairie Central 8-1. In the Michael Collins Memorial Invitational at the Corn Crib, Bloomington topped Champaign Central 4-2 and Tri-Valley defeated Central Catholic 4-1.
Illinois baseball is at Minnesota at 4:00 this afternoon, while Illinois softball hosts Wisconsin in a doubleheader beginning at 5:00.
Illinois State’s baseball series at Wichita State begins with a doubleheader today in an effort to beat the weather. Game 1 begins at 2 p.m.
Illinois Wesleyan baseball hosts Millikin tonight at 6:30. Titan softball hosts Wheaton for a 5:30 doubleheader.
The Cardinals took two from the Blue Jays, winning the matinee 8-4 on a grand slam by Matt Carpenter in the 11th inning before taking the nightcap 6-4. The Cards host the Reds tonight.
The Cubs are in Boston this evening and the White Sox are in Detroit. Both Chicago entries had Thursday off.

The Bears pulled off a surprising trade in the first round of the NFL draft to choose North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky with the second pick. The Bears traded four picks to the 49ers to move up one spot to take Trubisky. The Browns took defensive end Myles Garrett from Texas A & M with the first pick.
