The Livingston County Farm Bureau working at making the “zero farming accidents” dream a reality by holding the KidSmart Safety Camp June 15 at the 4-H Park in Pontiac.

Manager Jody Hughes participated in these as a child and, as an adult, continues to advocate for its programs.

“I remember going to safety camp when I was a kid and them showing anything from being safe in a grain bin to around animals. So, this event, I really want the kids in the area this summer to have that opportunity. We always talk about we want zero accidents and we hear, not nearly as rare as we want, that we do have younger children involved in these accidents and we do not want that to happen, whether it be on the farm or when they’re at home by themselves. So, that’s really the whole purpose of this event,” Hughes said.

The cost is $5 per child or maximum $10 per family. Registration is due by June 2 and can be done by emailing [email protected] or calling 842-1103.
