The Livingston County Farm Bureau is holding its annual “Breakfast on the Farm” Saturday from 7-10 at Kilgus Farmstead in Fairbury.
Manager Jody Hughes explains why this full breakfast is offered for just $1.
“Why do we charge a dollar? It’s a big question we get. It’s called a farmer’s share breakfast, technically, so the dollar shows a farmer’s portion. If you went to a restaurant and got this breakfast, it might cost you anywhere form $10-12, but the farmer’s portion they get is $1. So, this is kind of a way for the farmers to give back and another community awareness event for us. So the menu that day is going to be biscuits and gravy, eggs, coffee, juice, milk – it’s going to be great stuff. Fresh from the farm. So we are really excited,” Hughes said.
There will also be free farm tours, kid’s activities and a chance to meet area farmers. For more information, visit livcfb.org.
