Your morning look at sports

The Reds held off the Cubs 2-1 at Wrigley Field. The Cubs left the potential tying and winning runs on base at the game’s end and stranded six runners in the final three innings. The Cubs still lead the Cardinals and Brewers by a game and a half in the National League Central Division. Veteran right-handers Homer Bailey for the Redlegs and John Lackey for the Cubs match up on the bump tonight.
The Dodgers beat the White Sox 6-1, breaking a tie in the eighth with a bases-loaded hit batsman on the way to a five-run frame. The Dodgers are now 50 games over .500 at 84-34, the first team to do that since the 2004 Cardinals. The Sox give the ball to lefty Carlos Rodon tonight as the Dodgers send out right-hander Yu Darvish.
The Red Sox handled the Cardinals 10-4 at Fenway Park, putting up a snowman with an eight-run fifth inning and adding a defensive exclamation point when Yadier Molina grounded into an around-the-horn triple play. The brief two-game set concludes this evening in Boston as the Cardinals send right-hander Lance Lynn to the mound while the Red Sox counter with lefty Eduardo Rodriguez.
The CornBelters beat the Southern Illinois Miners 6-4, scoring five in the first to support Shawn Blackwell, who missed a complete game by one out. The series continues tonight at the Corn Crib with Miners right-hander Robby Rowland against Belters lefty Scott Sebald on the hill.
