High school football is featured tonight on WJEZ-FM 98.9 as Marc Strauss brings you the Livingston County Game of the Week from Bloomington. Prairie Central travels to Central Catholic with pre-game at 6:55 from Bill Hundman Memorial Field.
In girls volleyball, Lexington beat Pontiac, Dwight lost at Newark, Prairie Central handled Herscher, Fieldcrest beat Putnam County, El Paso-Gridley tripped Henry.
In girls golf at the Pontiac Lady Indians Scramble at Pontiac Elks Club, Central Catholic’s white squad took the team title. The Saints gold team tied for second with Putnam County. The Pontiac orange squad tied for fourth with Watseka. Prairie Central and Dwight tied for eighth, Fieldcrest finished 10th and the Pontiac Blue squad was 11th.
The Cardinals earned a 5-2 win at San Francisco. The series continues tonight by the bay as Jack Flaherty starts on the mound for the Cards while Johnny Cueto is on the hill for the Giants.
The Cubs captured a 6-2 win over the Braves. The series continues this afternoon at Wrigley Field with a pair of 10-win hurlers on the mound, Mike Foltynewicz for Atlanta and John Lackey for the Cubs.
The White Sox lost 5-4 to the Twins as Sox reliever Juan Minaya hit Max Kepler with a pitch with the bases loaded to end the game. The Sox host the Rays tonight with Blake Snell taking the ball for Tampa Bay against the Sox’ Reynaldo Lopez.
The CornBelters rebounded for a 10-1 win over the Evansville Otters in the rubber game of the series at Bosse Field. The Belters move on to suburban Cincinnati to face the Florence Freedom in the final regular season series. The Belters are 2 1/2 games out of a playoff berth with three games remaining.
The Bears lost their final practice game, a 25-0 decision to the Cleveland Browns. The Bears host the Falcons on Sunday, September 10 to open the 2017 season.
