The Pontiac Police have handled six cases of similarly-printed fake currency that has been passed at local business recently, and they are asking the public to report any encounters they may have immediately to the police.
Major Dan Davis said the majority of the fake bills that have been passed have been $20 bills, but one involved a $100 bill.
“When a person would use just one bill, they’re printed clearly enough you wouldn’t readily know they are fake. All of the incidents have involved bills that state on the back ‘for motion picture use only,’” Davis said.
If you encounter any fake currency, police are asking it be reported by calling 844-0911 so they can attempt to identify the source.
