Volunteers needed for upcoming Ag Expo

The biannual Livingston County Ag Expo is happening October 5 at the Livingston County 4-H Park.

Livingston County Farm Bureau Manager Jody Hughes explained that this event is done though a partnership between the Farm Bureau, Soil and Water Conservation District and the University of Illinois Extension, and while they expect between 1800 and 2000 students between first and fifth grades, they need adult volunteers to help the day go smoothly.

“They’re going to go between stations – anything from a live line demo, which is about electricity (shows the kids how to be safe around that). They’re going to be learning about different ag topics, different conservation practices. It takes over 100 volunteers for this day and lots of presenters. We’re going to need people to help us serve lunch, we might even need people to move things around and help us get stations set up. Depending on the comfort level, if you want to help teach a station, we are happy to take that on, as well. Sometimes we even provide the lesson and you just show up and teach that day,” Hughes said.
