The John Laughlin Advance Drive for the United Way of Livingston County kicked off last Wednesday and co-chairmen Dee and Mike Ingles have gave information about how it got its name and how to get involved.
“John’s legacy lives on. After he passed away, Dee and I kind of took that on as a special project in his honor because he was so successful at getting donations from people who don’t have payroll deductions, don’t work for one of the larger companies, they’re self employed, retired people, golfing buddies – you name it, John had them. One of our problems is, because most of the people on the Advance Drive are retired or older, we lose a few every year, and we’re going to make a special effort this year to try to expand that,” Ingles said.
