The Cubs completed the crucial weekend series with St. Louis with another win over the Cardinals, this one a 4-3 decision at Wrigley Field to complete the sweep and their sixth straight win. The Cubs pushed their lead over the Cards to six games and are now four games ahead of Milwaukee. The Cubs are at Tampa Bay tomorrow while the Cardinals visit Cincinnati Tuesday.

 

The White Sox lost 12-0 to the Tigers, although they broke up a no-hit bid by Matthew Boyd in the ninth inning as the lefty settled for a one-hitter. The Sox are also off today as they visit Houston tomorrow. The Astros clinched the American League West on Sunday.

 

The Bears were routed 29-7 at Tampa Bay as Chicago quarterback Mike Glennon was guilty of four turnovers including a pick-six. The 0-2 Bears will host the Pittsburgh Steelers next Sunday.

 

The Packers lost in Atlanta 34-23 in the first game in the Falcons’ new stadium. The Colts lost to Arizona 16-13 in overtime. Former Bear Jay Cutler won his first game with the Dolphins as they handled the Chargers in their first home game in Los Angeles.

 

The Detroit Lions visit the New York Giants in the NFL Monday night game.

 

Marc Leishman won the BMW Championship in the PGA stop in Lake Forest.

 

Martin Truex Jr. won the opening NASCAR playoff race at Chicagoland Speedway.
