The Packers took a two-touchdown lead before the Bears’ second offensive play on the way to a 35-14 win in the NFL Thursday night showcase. Bears quarterback Mike Glennon was 21-of-33 for 218 yards and one touchdown but threw two interceptions. Packers QB Aaron Rodgers threw for 179 yards and four scores. The game was stopped for 47 minutes in the first half for lightning.

The Cubs earned a 2-1 win in 11 innings over the Cardinals. Taylor Davis knocked in the game-winner with a double, and the game ended on a Leonys Martin catch to rob Paul DeJong of a home run. The loss eliminates the Cardinals from the playoff race. The Cards open their final series of the campaign at home tonight, sending John Gant to the hill against Milwaukee’s Chase Anderson. The Cubs host the Reds this afternoon, righty Robert Stephenson for Cincinnati against Cubs lefty Jose Quintana.

The White Sox scored three times in the eighth inning to come from behind for a 5-4 win over the Angels. The Sox visit Cleveland for the final series of the season as Mike Pelfrey takes the ball while the Tribe counter with Trevor Bauer.

High school football takes center stage tonight with Week 6 of the campaign. South Newton of Indiana visits Dwight in the Livingston County Game of the Week on 98.9 WJEZ and WJEZ.com. Pre-game with Marc Strauss begins at 6:55.

The Big Ten muscles in on Friday football as Nebraska visits Illinois.
