After a historic education funding decision was made in the Illinois legislature shortly after the school year began, feedback is coming in to the effect of positive bipartisan work.
State Senator Jason Barickman said, while administrators in the nearly 40 school districts he represents were pleased with the outcome, the general public was, too.
“I think the public wanted to see us come together. They wanted to see us demonstrate that even though we’re a divided government (with a Republican governor and Democratic controlled legislature) they wanted to see us work together and come to an agreement that we all could be proud of, and I think we’ve done that with this. My hope is we can do that with more things before we get too deep into the election cycle, which is looming next year,” Barickman said.
Barickman was a guest on a recent Community Forum which can be found in our podcast section at WJEZ.com.
