Humiston Woods Nature Center, located north of Pontiac, is already seeing some of the seasonal changes that happen to the area annually.

Director Ed Lipinski described what will be happening at the woods in the coming weeks.

“First of all, the obvious change in color – we’ve already had some maples changing. It’s still kind of green out there, but things will be changing soon because the chlorophyll production will die down and the trees will revert to their original pigments of yellows and browns and reds. It will be coming. Cooler days and shorter nights and we’ll get that change. We’re already seeing some. We’re announcing it a little early. So get out there in the coming weeks and look for those changes,” Lipinski said.
