In the high school volleyball regionals – Central Catholic topped Streator to advance in the Class 3A Regional at Fairbury. Host Prairie Central eliminated Pontiac in straight sets. At LeRoy, the host Panthers beat Calvary Christian and Ridgeview knocked out Cornerstone. Woodland defeated Tri-Point in the Class 1A Regional at Gardner South Wilmington
The schedule is set for the opening weekend of the high school football playoffs. Pontiac will travel to Tolono Unity in the Class 5A playoffs. The game is set for 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Prairie Central will play Friday night at 7 at No. 1 seed Rochester.

Former Illinois High School Association Executive Director David Fry has died. During his time as director, the IHSA moved the boys basketball finals to Peoria, created the IHSA TV Network and added state tournaments in boys volleyball and boy and girls water polo. Fry was 77.
