The Pontiac Area Chamber of Commerce surprised the 2017 ATHENA Award winner Wednesday with the announcement that she won the honor.

Dr. Heather Schweizer was nominated by several people in the community for many things, including the many years she’s worked as a doctor in Livingston County and other community roles. When she walked into what she thought was a staff meeting to find that everyone was gathered for the announcement, she said she was very humbled and speechless. When asked what advice she had for women or young ladies wanting to make their mark, she said to reach out to other women.

“They can do anything they set their mind to. They just need to reach out to other women who can help them along their path,” Schweizer said.

Schweizer will be honored at a luncheon at a future date.
