Pontiac’s Oscar Gorbet made his annual donation to the Muscular Dystrophy Association Wednesday morning, giving a check for $15,500.
Fundraising coordinator Andie Savoree said his efforts alone sent multiple children to summer camp.
“All of Oscar’s efforts go straight to our MDA summer camp in July of every year and this camp is actually free our families. On MDA’s side, it costs about $2,000 for every single kid to be sent to camp, so Oscar himself just sent seven kids to camp,” Savoree said.
Gorbet’s goals and end results each year continue increasing by thousands of dollars, and he says he’s not stopping anytime soon.
“I’m too far in. I see those kids every year and they’re just tickled to death and so am I. I couldn’t quit,” Gorbet said.
Gorbet said his goal for next year will be $10,000. His name has appeared on a cabin since this time last year, but after this large donation, a cabin has officially been named after him.
