The Pontiac Kiwanis heard about the Pontiac Month of Giving, a student run initiative through Pontiac Township High School.
Student Council President Kevin Kuska explained that there are a lot of students considered homeless at the school and when the student body realized that just giving a little makes a big difference, they chose to start this drive and it has already spread to several feeder schools.
“I think it’s just really eye opening, because I personally I didn’t know anything about the need of our students and many of my friends and other students still don’t know, but once the video is sent on social media, I think a lot of students eyes are going to be opened to the true need of our society,” Kuska said.
Items can be dropped off at the school, located at 1100 East Indiana Avenue in Pontiac. The second week of November, they are collecting canned or boxed foods, third week is hygiene items, the fourth week is monetary donations or anything else already on the list, the end of November and beginning of December they are looking for clothing items of all sizes and the second week of December, they are asking for school supplies. With any questions, contact the school’s guidance department at 844-6113.
