The rTown smart phone app is new to Pontiac, and it’s spread throughout the community, giving people a chance to get alerts of anything happening in the community.

Pontiac Parks and Recreation Director Taylor Baxter said the app is easily downloaded and, like other popular social media site Facebook, people will get immediate alerts of events.

“Really, it just comes down to ease of access, because that’s really what everybody wants. They want it easy and they want it instantaneously. This is a great way where we can upload information directly to people’s phone, which we’ve never been able to do before. So, on our end, it’s going to be a lot better to get news and information out. On the customer’s end, they don’t have to go out and search for anything. It’s going to come right to them about new information,” Baxter said.
