Just a few high school teams were in action last night as we head into the Christmas holiday. El Paso-Gridley’s girls team topped Prairie Central 42-32 at El Paso, Eureka had no trouble with Flanagan-Cornell-Woodland 81-45.

 

The Illini are back in action tomorrow night with the annual Braggin’ Rights game against Missouri. WJEZ has the game at 6.

 

Next week we gear up for the Pontiac Holiday Tournament as the Indians host top seed Chicago Simeon next Thursday night at 7:30.

 

The Illinois State women captured the Beach Classic title with a 65-55 win over Northeastern. Simone Goods was named tournament MVP with a  23-point performance in the finale. Hannah Green also made the all-tournament team. The 6-5 Redbirds are next in action on New year’s Eve when they host Bradley to start Missouri Valley Conference play.

 

The Redbird men start MVC play Saturday afternoon at Evansville.

 

The Bulls had their seven-game winning streak snapped by the Cleveland Cavaliers 115-112.

 

The Blackhawks were shutout at Dallas 4-0.
