Generally, international travel saw lower numbers in 2017, while the number of visitors touring Route 66 and adjacent locations continues to flourish.
Pontiac Tourism Director Ellie Alexander explains how that worked in Pontiac’s benefit.
“There was a lot of looking at those numbers because of what the travel industry has called a downgrade in international travel – didn’t affect us. Across the board, there are colleagues all across eight states that are reporting that their numbers really haven’t been affected by that, although they have been in other areas, but Route 66 is still very popular internationally,” Alexander said.
