It was a light night for high school basketball following a busy tournament week – in a doubleheader at Minonk, Fieldcrest won two games over Blue Ridge, The Fieldcrest boys beat Blue Ridge 83-47, the Fieldcrest girls beat the Knights 45-14. Lexington’s girls won at Ridgeview 53-44.

 

The Fighting Illini open the 2018 portion of their schedule tonight as Illinois visits Minnesota. Pregame starts at 7 on WJEZ. The Illini are 10-5, but dropped their first two Big Ten games.

 

Illinois State junior Milik Yarbrough has swept the Missouri Valley Conference Player and Newcomer of the Week awards for the second time this season. Yarbrough led the Redbirds with 29 points in a win over Indiana State on Sunday.

 

ISU will put its 2-0 Missouri Valley Conference record on the line tonight as the Redbirds visit fellow 2-0 Drake.

 

Illinois Wesleyan welcomes second-ranked Augustana to Shirk Center tonight. The Titan women, ranked No. 23 in Division III, will visit Augie tonight.

 

lSU’s all-time leading scorer in women’s basketball and one of its most decorated athletes in history, Kristi Cirone, has been named to the Missouri Valley Conference’s 25-year team.

 

Illinois State football coach Brock Spack has hired an offensive line coach who coached there in the 1990s during Todd Berry’s highly successful run as coach. Harold Etheridge was a part of Indiana State’s turnaround over the last decade and spent the last four seasons on the staff at Georgia State. 

 

The Central Illinois Flying Aces lost at home to Green Bay 2-1 as the Bloomington team split its four games over a five-day stretch.
