Pontiac football coach ‘Buck’ Casson has resigned. He coached the Indians to a 26-22 mark in five seasons and led PTHS to the playoffs three times. Casson will continue to teach at the school and serve on Pontiac baseball’s coaching staff.
It was a busy night for high school basketball. Ridgeview won at Heyworth 54-46, GCMS held off El Paso-Gridley 48-45, Blue Ridge scored a 65-60 home win over Lexington. Flanagan-Cornell fell at Tri-Valley 62-42, Fieldcrest picked up a 62-46 win at Roanoke-Benson.
In girls hoops, Dwight cruised past Gardner 59-35. Flanagan-Cornell-Woodland managed a 44-34 win at Tri-Valley.
Pontiac’s wrestling team split two matches, defeating St. Thomas More 42-30 and losing to Monticello 60-18. The Indians record sits at 7-10.

ISU football coach Brock Spack has added one of his former defensive standouts, all-conference defensive back Mike Banks, to his coaching staff. Banks will coach the Redbirds’ outside linebackers. He’s been a graduate manager on the football staff the last two years.
Patrick Kane had the first five-point night of his career with a goal and four assists while the Blackhawks netted four power-play goals in an 8-2 win at Ottawa.
