The Pontiac Kiwanis Club met Wednesday over the lunch hour and got an update from the Livingston County Food Pantry.
Board of Trustees President Bill Fairfield said they are always taking donations and would love more volunteers as they move thousands of pounds of food through the pantry on a near-weekly basis.
“Statistics for the last two years: in 2016, we served 3,791 families, 10,441 individuals and 242 new families. In 2017, we served 3,815 families, 10,465 individuals and 237 new families. That’s all done with volunteers. Anyone interested in volunteering can contact the food pantry and we would discuss that with you and we have a process that we go through. If someone’s interested, we’d be glad to have you come talk to us and any donations are greatly appreciated,” Fairfield said.
