WJEZ and sponsor Bank of Pontiac have been asking since the end of October for our listeners to help “Fill the Needs Closet” for the Children’s Advocacy Center, and as always, they didn’t disappoint.
Our front office was filled to the brim with donations, from single bags full of items all the way to several boxes from the Woodland Key Club’s school drive and piles of gifts from The Pointe at Pontiac.
Judy Donze, who is on the board for the Child Protection Network and works for its affiliate, the Children’s Advocacy Center, was excited to see all the items she came to pick up and take to the Center later that day.
“I am very overwhelmed. Just the generosity of the Livingston County communities is just absolutely overwhelming. It’s been kind of a tough year to ask people to donate. There’s been such a push for donations for hurricane relief and the economy isn’t necessarily the greatest. It’s kind of a two-sided sword to this whole Christmas drive when you’re trying to provide Christmas for your own family and asked to help provide things for other families, too. This was just amazing. We have stacks and stacks of diapers and just basic need items that can be given to families all year around,” Donze said.
Even though the drive is over, WJEZ will always be a drop off point for items, which can be left between 9 and 5 weekdays at the station.
