When people are too young to donate blood, one way to be able to involve them in the process is to recruit adults to donate for them.
Prairie Central Superintendent Paula Crane said that’s the whole idea behind the Pint Sized Heroes American Red Cross blood drive Tuesday from noon to six at the Prairie Central Elementary School in Fairbury. Crane said the students are really excited to help get people involved in all the benefits of donating blood.
”They really liked it and they really got involved and very excited. They have an assembly to kick it off and they learn a little bit about blood and how it helps when people give blood and who it helps. Kids get very excited at the opportunity to help others. That’s something that they just love to do,” Crane said.
To sign up, contact the school at 692-2623 and let them know the name of the child that recruited you. That child can tally points from all their recruits for prizes at school.
