In honor of the first anniversary of the Women’s March in Washington, the “We’re Here” group has organized a local march at 1:30 Sunday in Pontiac.
Member joanE Lipinski said, while several other communities are holding marches in conjunction with the National one, they wanted something local for people to attend.
“The National march is in Las Vegas this year, but we would like to have something local for people who just want to participate and be part of that day. Sara Dady, one of the candidates for the Democratic primary for congress (16th District, our district) will be here with some of her staff members,” Lipinski said.
The group meets at the corner of Madison and Main streets in Pontiac.
