Under the dual enrollment program,  nursing students working to receive their Associate’s Degree at Heartland will be able to simultaneously take ISU nursing classes online to get their Bachelor’s Degree. Heartland President Rob Widmer says the program will serve as an opportunity for students to earn their degrees and join the workforce more efficiently.

“They’re essentially with us for three years and then with ISU for the final year, so it gives them opportunities to have a cost effective, exceptionally high quality path to a bachelor’s degree,” Widmar said

Widmer noted with changing healthcare and a large aging population, the need for nurses is becoming greater by the day. Heartland nursing students will be eligible to enroll in the program during the fall semester later this year, when the program takes full effect.
