Pontiac District 429 is looking into changing their bus services beginning in the fall of 2018.
Superintendent Brian Dukes said they looked into their contract with the current services they use, and they just weren’t happy.
“We’re on the third year with our contract with Illinois Central Bus Company. At this point, we give the company an opportunity to give us renewal pricing before our board of education can make some decisions of the next many couple of school years. After reviewing some documents that we received for the renewal, we just don’t feel it’s affordable for our school district or efficient for the school district. We have very little changes we’re able to make due to the contract we’re in, so we just feel that at this point, we’re better served to in-house all our busing and take care of it at the local level,” Dukes said.
Dukes was a guest on a recent Community Forum where he further discusses this issue. That can be found at WJEZ.com.
