Accidents vary from situation to situation, but reckless homicide seems to be on the rise in Livingston County.
State’s Attorney Randy Yedinak explains what reckless homicide means and how those cases are charged.
“A lot of what we call often has what ends up getting charged is called a reckless homicide and that’s where individuals are operating a motor vehicle and they’re doing so recklessly. Most of the time it’s because they’re under the influence of alcohol or drugs or both and unfortunately, that’s something we’ve seen a rise in Livingston County in within the last six or seven months. We’ve had a number of accidents that have been caused and a number of fatalities that have been caused due to individuals driving under the influence of drugs and or alcohol. It’s a disturbing trend, one that you don’t like to see on the rise,” Yedinak said.
