The Livingston Area Career Center will be offering cooking classes with Chef Scott Rowan for not only students, but for the general public.
The next class is February 24 and Rowan said they will be tackling basic cooking for the first class.
“The basic braising and stews. We’re going to break down and really show the difference between what braising is and what a stew is. It’s almost the same thing. You’re still cooking in a liquid. The real difference is when you’re going to break up that piece of meat into smaller pieces, where braising is you’re going to take that whole piece (a roast, chicken or ribs) you can braise slowly in a cooking liquid,” Rowan said.
There will be several classes and the prices to attend will vary. It’s a three hour class and attendees are asked to bring containers for the leftover food cooked that day. To RSVP, call the LACC at 842-2557.
