The Pontiac Kiwanis Club met Wednesday afternoon and heard about upcoming events at the Eagle Performing Arts and Conference Center.
Facility Manager Liz Vincent gave a preview of a show coming up in a week that brings a Pontiac-raised musician back to town.
“The Bashful Youngins are headlining. The band is lead by Carrie Chandler. Carrie Chandler is originally from Pontiac. She is quite a talented musician. She has a band that she’s been playing with in the Champaign/Danville area for quite a few years and this is the first time they’ve had a chance to play here in Pontiac. We’re really excited to be the inaugural spots to play in her hometown. It’s also an evening of hometown musicians. The Unemployed Architects, who are pretty well known in our area are going to be opening, and opening for them is local singer and guitarist Ryan Wolf,” Vincent said.
Vincent also gave a preview of the wide array of events planned for the Eagle’s stage.
“We are kind of all across the board this spring at the Eagle, which I’m really excited about. We have the upcoming dinner theater production with Vermillion Players, ‘Making God Laugh.’ Tickets are on sale now. We also have comedy, a standup comic, we have improve, a chance for people to take an improve workshop. We have a handbell choir, but they play modern music. We also have a June and Johnny Cash tribute band who are going to be there at the theater as well. As long as tons of other events. We’re really trying to hit all the different genres and tastes and have something for everybody going on at the theater,” Vincent said.
