Daylight Savings Time is happening this weekend and the American Red Cross reminds everyone to test the batteries in their smoke alarms when they change their clocks ahead an hour.
It is recommended to not only check smoke alarms, but also check batteries and test alarms once a month; install smoke alarms if you don’t already have them; practice an escape plan in case of a fire; and to get a disaster supply kit.
Other ideas during this time is to make a plan in case any emergency were to happen and to also be informed about what emergencies can occur in the area and how officials notify residents should a disaster occur.
