The annual Operation Snowflake sponsored by IHR is happening Saturday, April 7, at Pontiac Junior High School.

Program Coordinator Tiffany Yoder explains what Operation Snowflake is.

“Operation Snowflake, or I should go back a notch, Operation Snowball, our organization, is really focused on helping our youth be drug free, and we know a lot of different things go into that. Leadership skills, developing their self esteem and working on a lot of different interpersonal skills, so they can be successful and be drug free,” Yoder said.

Yoder describes the day’s activities.

“They are grouped into a small group which gives them an opportunity to meet with their leaders, which are high school students that have been trained and they’re just overall great kids. Then we break off and we hear from speakers and sometimes different people in the community that are there to give us a good message. We break off for eating. There’s a dance at the end of the day that involves everybody, so it’s really orchestrated but it’s really a great time for them,” Yoder said.
