During their last week in session before taking a 4 week break, legislators heard from constituents while discussing how to make schools safer.
State Representative Tom Bennett described the last week in session.
“We had an interesting discussion in the Education Committee about what we can do to make our schools safer. One of the witnesses who spoke to us was Ford County Sheriff Mark Doran. I appreciate Sheriff Doran coming to Springfield and sharing his perspective on one of the key issues we’re facing this spring,” Bennett said.
Illinois legislators are taking a four-week break before returning to session, mainly to visit with constituents in their districts.
Bennett plans to do just that, along with very specific discussions.
“During this time, I’ll be traveling the district meeting with as many constituents as I can. I’ll also be hosting several events that might be of interest to you. I’ve joined with the Citizens Utility Board to host a series of seminars on how to lower your utility bills. The next Seminar is Wednesday, March 14, at the library in Watseka; Friday, March 16, at the library in Pontiac; and Monday, March 19, at the library in Hoopston. Each event runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bring your utility bills, such as land line phones, gas and electric, to see if there are ways you can save money on utilities. I’ll be announcing a series of constituent meetings in each of the five counties in the 106th District in the near future,” Bennett said.
The House will reconvene April 9.
